Emma

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. She relocated to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five where she attended an academy called the Dragon School. Emma decided to be an actor when she was six. Over the course of several years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing, dancing and acting. Her performances had been in a variety of Stagecoach and school productions by the time she was ten years old. In 1999 casting began in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agents through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after the eight auditions that she'd been chosen for these parts. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. It broke all records for its opening and weekend ticket numbers, and was the most-recorded 2001 movie. Critics praised the film and the performances of the three young stars. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British publication, described Emma's performances "amazing". Emma's performance was recognized and later won awards for the film.
