Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig, September 21, 1983. She is an American actress best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington in Ohio, left high school in order to move to Los Angeles after her divorced parents. In 2001, despite her difficulties with money she managed get her first significant role in the online video series Rachel's Room playing the main character. The TV film Murder in Greenwich where she portrayed 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for a Young Artist Award. In 2004 Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost in which she was a main actor for the first two seasons, and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace was dropped from the series in 2005 to pursue a more significant role in films, having appeared in the film Taken alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. She appeared as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken in 2008) as Suburban Girl as well as the Jane Austen Book Club. She reprised her role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice in Malice in Wonderland a modern version of Lewis Carroll's classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played the role of Shannon in Lost, including the finale. She was in 2013 for the sixth episode of Californication. She plays Faith a groupie and a muse to the stars who captures the attention of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Gyllenhaal is a part of the family, and is the older sibling of Jake Gyllenhaal. The career of her mother began when she was an early teenager, with small parts in a few films directed from her father. Also, she worked alongside her brother in 2001's cult movie Donnie Darko. The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received critical praise for her leading roles in Secretary (2002 an erotic romantic drama) as well as Sherrybaby (606) Both of which garnered the actress Golden Globe Award nods. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008 after several highly successful films including World Trade Center (2006) which brought her greater recognition, was a huge success for Gyllenhaal. In recognition of her role as a single mom in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The subsequent roles she has played include Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang and Hysteria. In addition, she appeared as a Secret Service Agent in White House Down which was an action thriller that was released in 2013. She also played a musician as Frank (2014), a musician Frank (2014) as well as her role as the main character in The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama released in 2018. Gyllenhaal composed and directed her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The thriller that dealt with psychological issues was awarded the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. It was also nominated to the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
